I wanna add, too, that the idea that the real world is fully non-anonymous is not true. Even in public, you can whisper. When you're driving in a car, everyone can see you, but they can't hear your conversation. When you call into a radio show, you don't have to give your full name. And then you can find privacy even while out in a bathroom, or when you get home. When you write someone a letter, you don't share it with the world. We have many forms of privacy built into our everyday non-screen lives, it's just that the Internet is a new dimension that is difficult to compare.
